FOUR DAYS

That's right:

FOUR DAYS UNTIL SPRING FLING QUILT CAMP

I spent this weekend getting everything printed, packed, and ready for Quilt Camp. Many surprises are planned along with a fantastic mystery by Beth Karr. I really look forward to a wonderful weekend.

Time was also spent working on my 12 days of Christmas block. Didn't finish it, so, you will just have to wait to see my completed block. However, I do have a small top that I pieced last weekend. It is Peekaboo Monkeys for a special little person. Now, how do I quilt it?
I think that I need to stabilize it first with some stitch in the ditch, but then I don't have a clue as to where to go from there. Hopefully the quilt will "talk" to me after that.
After next weekend I should have alot of pictures to show (blackmail) many people. I hope to post the completed mystery while we are at Camp. I have not been in a position to get a good picture, I hope to do that before I leave on Thursday.
The weather in South Carolina today was perfect. Spring is coming, Spring is coming.
Have a great week.

The Year of Applique'

This is what arrived in today's mail. This is the first block for the Twelve Days of Christmas Block of the month that I am starting. The blocks look very nice and I am looking forward to working on this one. THIS IS NOT MY BLOCK--I CAPTURED THE PICTURE FROM THE WEBSITE.

This isn't the only one I ordered. I have 2 others that are also applique' that will start arriving soon. So, it appears that this will be the year of applique' for me. These are my projects:

1) The Be Attitudes--fusible machine applique
2) The Twelve Days of Christmas--needle turn
3) William Morris and Friends--needle turn ????
4) My Whimsical Garden--needle turn ???

These are all applique!!!!!! What am I thinking!!!! I am not so sure that I will needle turn all of the last three. Hmmmmm, something to think about.

Still working on preparations for Spring Fling Quilt Camp. Busy, busy, weekend and the weather is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Enjoy,

Great Weekend

District 4 of the Quilters of South Carolina met this weekend. We had absolutely horrible weather and still at least 100 quilters from 4 or 5 counties met for fellowship and lunch. Our speaker for the day was the talented Kathy Gainey. If you are really 'into' hand dyed wool, you need to talk to Kathy. She had some of the most beautiful hand dyed wool that she had done. If you are interested you can reach her through her blog Shakerwood Primitives.

Do you know what I consider to be the most BORING activity in quilting? Stitching down fusible applique'. Yes, I can actually go to sleep while doing this particular technique. So, why, may you ask, am I doing the Be Attitude blocks? Well, Pat (sister quilter) and I have been trying to come up with something for her church, as a thankyou , for sponsoring Girl Scout Troops------years ago. What we have decided is to do these blocks from Nancy Halvorsen's Be Attitudes book and then hang them as panels on a very high wall in a stairway of their church. This is my first one. We split them up and will be doing them as a block of the month (we hope). The Eyes and nose of the dog will be added later. Can you guess why I chose this block? Remember that big Black Lab? Rocky? He did manage to eat 2 of my husband's shoes and recently has chewed a hole in a knitted throw. Soooooo, in order to keep from 'killing' him, we are learning to "Be Forgiving".

I also finished the binding and the label for the Spring Fling mystery. I just love this quilt. I just might have to keep it for myself. I look forward to posting a picture after Quilt Camp.

Have a great week. Try to stay warm.
LET'S GO SEW !!!!!!!!!!!
