THE TIME HAS ARRIVED

Pieceable retreat---------here we come!!!!!!!!!!

Fall retreat with the Quilters of South Carolina starts tomorrow at 11:00. This will be a great weekend.

Pat and I first have to help set up the 'Fiber Art' for Harvest Hope Foodbank's :
I understand that there are 6-8 pieces and Pat and I are charged with displaying them to their best advantage. I have borrowed racks from everyone. I have purchased black curtains to show the pieces to their best advantage. I just hope Pat and I can pull this off early and hit the road for Winnsboro in time for lunch. At the same time I certainly hope that Harvest Hope can get a bundle of $'s for all of the work. Since I can't be there, Mr. One Loose Thread will be attending. Now all I have to worry about is that he doesn't exceed the budget during the bidding. If there is one thing he really loves, it is an auction of any kind.

Oh yes, feel free to log onto the Harvest Hope website and make a contribution.

Have a great weekend. Hope to have lots of pictures by the end of the weekend.

Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent my afternoon with this young lady. We went to the 'new' JoAnn's--sob, sob, sob. The new store is like 15 miles away instead of 2 miles from my house. The store is very nice, but somewhat crowded. The fabric is packed together and difficult to see. This store is a 'Michael's' with fabric wanna be. It may be a good thing that it is so far from the house.

Sadly, we are loosing our favorite Local Quilt Shop the Quilted Pearl. It has been expecially wonderful to have this shop that has become such a significant part of quilting in Columbia. Cheryl has made her classroom and full service shop available to all of the guilds in Columbia anytime of the day and any day of the week.

Quilters of South Carolina will be meeting at the White Oak Conference Center next weekend. I am looking forward, not only to the classes, but also to seeing many of my friends from across the state.

Have a great week and don't forget that registration is open for 'Spring Fling' Quilt Camp in February. Check out the information on the Retreat page as there have been some changes. If you want to register just email me and I will send you a simple to print registration form.

Me and My Gammill

Client Quilt

Client Quilt

These are the cute little quilts that I have been working on this weekend. I have tried some new pantographs and some different ways of loading the frame, so it really has been a learning experience. However, I do want everyone to know that I LOVE MY GAMMILL!!!! This girl (I know she is a female Gammill) has worked flawlessly all weekend. Not one bad stitch has she taken. She is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!! However, she still does not have a name. One will come to me I'm sure

Client Quilt

You see that stack of 'stuff' on top of my cutting mat? It is yards and yards of 'hanging sleeve'. I have obtained racks for the Gravatt quilts, the ones for the auction at the 'Under The Tent' event. The problem is, that most of these quilts don't have sleeves on them, sooooooooo, I am going to apply sleeves.  NOTE TO SELF: When you donate a quilt or wall hanging to someone to auction--put a sleeve on it so that it can be properly displayed.  My major concern when we give pieces to these groups is that they will be shown laying on a table and look like a placemat. That is the reason that I am trying to get involved with the display of the quilts.  I will also be helping with Harvest Hope Food Banks'  'Empty Bowls' event------even though I won't get to go. That is the weekend of QSC's Fall Retreat and I will be at White Oak.

That's my report for now. I do have this quilt on my design wall. Need to get the borders on it so that it can get in line to go on the frame. I do have a few other personal quilts to work on in line before this one.
Stay tuned: Registration will open this week for One Loose Thread's 'SPRING FLING' in February 2011. Keep checking as this information will be posted on the retreat page.

Hope everyone has a good week. Stay safe and LET'S GO SEW!!!!!!!!

Special Quilt

I finished this special quilt and delivered it this morning. This is actually my first t-shirt quilt and I was more than pleased with the results. As you can probably tell, it was a design project from the beginning since everything was different sizes. Lots of thought and plenty of fun. I just hope that Rachel likes it even more than I do.

The Tigers are Quilted

I did get the One Block Wonder, known as 'Tiger Butt' on and off of the frame this weekend.  Pat came over on Friday and worked for a few hours on the Name Tags for QSC Pieceable Retreat, so there was someone in the studio at the time I was working. Really rather nice. She talked to the computer and I talked to the longarm (yet to be named).  We had some music on the Ipod and the time just flew by.  Here are a few pictures:

Fast forward to Sunday afternoon. I have the binding sewn to the T-shirt quilt (will post finished pictures soon) and it is stitched down on 2 sides, so I will finish that today.  Then I have the binding ready for the 'Tiger' quilt, so I will sew it on and hopefully get it stitched down today too.

I now have all of the labels for the Camp Gravatt quilts, so, will have to get those on so that June can take some pictures and finish appraisals. The 'Under the Tent' event is fast approaching.

The weekend has flown by!!! Where does time go? I just don't seem to have enough of it lately.  I do hope everyone has a good week.
