Nite Bee goes Daytime

The Nite Bee met yesterday in Ridgeway, South Carolina. We had 'Tea' at The Thomas Company, Laura's Tea Room. I have added a slide show of the day. Hope it works. Boy!!! I sure had a good time and the food was awesome !!

No more posting for today. Have to work on Library quilt and the Devine Challenge piece. Have a good week. I'm off to Knoxville!!!!!!!!!

Our Trip to the Beach

My family and I did spend a week at Myrtle Beach over the 4th of July holiday. I will now bore you with pictures of the trip.

Here we will start with the guys in the surf, yes we did actually go to the ocean.

We spent some time sewing. Pat, Sherry and I all took our machines and did manage some stitching time.

There was also some very serious card playing that went on during our stay. Please notice the name of the game that shows up on these cards.

Dusty tried to convince all of us that he was working the entire week. That phone never had a chance to 'cool' off.

Please understand that Piper did have a good time. Check out the next picture and you will see what I mean.

Told you.

The grandchildren took afternoon walks while we waited for supper to get ready. We cooked every night and we certainly did not go hungry.

This was the evening gathering place.

We had a fantastic week. Dick was with us part of the time. Tori was with us part of the time and Piper was there too. Dusty, Sherry, Austin, Alexis, Pat, and Danny spent the entire week with me. Kristy, Jay, Laney, and Jessie spent the weekend.

I did manage to get to the 'Quilters Cottage' in Garden City. The 'Artful Bra' exhibit was there for the week and it was good to visit. Pat and Rhett have a wonderful shop and you should visit it every time you are in the area.

I have more news, but, I will try not to go on for so long. More later.

Getting Ready for VACATION !!!

As you can see, Jake is really helping me out a lot!!! In the bag are the Dear Jane Blocks that I hope to work on while at the Beach. I think that I have close to 25 of them ready to work with. I am sorry to say, that I am that far behind.

I intentionally left out the triangles for the top row of the quilt as they are to complicated to work without Anina's directions. I will really have to work hard to complete what is in the box.

Just so I don't go into applique' withdrawal I am also preping another block to my "Cottage Garden" quilt. This will be block #5 out of 9 for this piece. This block is called "Pleasures of Summer". Lots of stems and lots of small flowers. Heart shaped leaves. Lots and Lots of stuff. We will just have to see how this goes. I probably should take my current Baltimore Block, but, I am currently sick of working on grape leaves!!!

Piper finished with Vacation Bible School on Friday. She had a wonderful week. There must have been at least 100 children for VBS at the church. They had an amazing number of volunteers to help with these children. Piper has been very fortunate to be in a position to participate in preschool, kindergarten, and all the summer programs.
I am not sure when we will leave for the beach. There are so many of us going that we will have to have 'round robin' sleeping arrangements. While some of us are at the beach, some will stay home to take care of animals and watch property. Then after a few days we will switch off so that everyone can be there at least for a while.
The "Artful Bra" exhibit is currently being shown at:
Quilters Cottage
St. Michaels Plaza
2571 S. Ocean Hwy - Business 17
Garden City, S C 29576
843-651-4004 /fax: 843-651-4033
If you are in the area, stop and see Pat and Rhett. This is a wonderful shop with very, very "Happy Fabric" and a very sociable staff to help you.
So, if you don't hear from me for a few weeks, never fear, I'll be back. So in the eloquent words of the President of Devine Quilters: "GO SEW SOMETHING!!"

Happy Father's Day!!!

This was where we left off last weekend. I was working on the mystery for the Devine Guild. Well, on Friday I did put all of the blocks together. I can't show you what it looks like since the mystery won't be solved until the first Monday in July. Trust me, it is VERY bright. I also decided that I did not like the border fabrics that I had picked out, so I will have to do some shopping for some other fabric---what a bother!!!

Saturday was spent working on some things with Tori and Piper. Saturday night I decided
to work on a 'One Block Wonder' that was started a few weeks ago. The fabric is black, white, red, and gray. There are touches of deep magenta in som of the blocks also. Not much other color. This first picture is of the hexagons that I completed on Saturday night.
Today I spent working on the Center of the Devine Guild quilt. Of course, I can't show it to you, but you can see behind curtain #1 what I have done or have pinned and ready to be stitched down.
I also put together more of the hexagons.

This is where we are as of 9:30 PM on Sunday night. I really feel as though I did alot for one weekend.

I can't believe how many hexagons that I have at this point and I have sooooooo many more to stitch together. I think this is one of those tops that will require some cubes inserted for interest. I guess that I will have to pull out the other book on 'One Blocks' so that I can work those into this quilt.
Have a great week. It will really be a hot and humid one for this area.

Step One was cutting instructions. DONE

This also lets you see the chosen fabrics. These are the only fabrics in this project.

Now, on to Step 3. Will post that when done.

Step Three ---Done

Now, on to Step 4 !!!!
Anita ! are you watching ??????
Step Four ---Done
As I look at how this is working up I see that there really isn't enough contrast between the light and medium, especially in the orange. I'm going with it anyway.

Now I only have step 5 to work with. Step 6 will not ve revealed until our July meeting. I'm going to cook supper. Would like to finish up step 5 tonight. Maybe. Maybe not. I have really done a lot today. With the Library top and this. Great Day!!!

Step Five

Step Six????
