I would definitely put the red in. It's funky and unexpected. It adds a lot of interest.

Go for the red - it turns something lovely but subtle into 'Hey just look at me!!!!!!!'

Yes to red!

One red star does not work for me, you will need at least three. Being a huge fan of two color quilts and seeing as my favorite color is blue, I would keep the red off. However for additional color, maybe a orange/rust rather than red? More the complementary to the teal?

Another one for red.

Use it - definitely!
But: do also use it in at least one more place. Just one single tiny red piece of fabric will do - just to echo it. Please try it, just for me :o)

Yes, a red splash here and there would make it sing. Beautiful quilt.
