Dear Jane and Liz

I have completed my Bachelor Button block. As you can probably tell, I did not do reverse applique'. I needed to practice doing circles so that was the way I did the bloc.

Some of my favorite people, The Greater Columbia Knight Bee, met at my house last night. Our 'Queen Bee' recently completed this top. Liz is trying to use up her scraps, but, they keep reproducing. I love what she has done with this top. Next time I see it she will have it completed. You Go Girl!!!
I spent this morning picking up important surprises for our Palm Key retreat. Now I can work on finishing my preparations for that weekend. Then, I can get my own "stuff" together.
That's it for now,

B-3 Mirror Image

Ok. I did it. I did not applique'. I very slowly stitched the archs. Not bad if I do say so myself. One more block down.
What's next fearless leader?

Ready for the next block.

One more Baby Jane

I did manage to complete out current assignment for our Baby Jane Group. It is D-3 Jason's Jacks and is an applique block.I have also started another applique project. I saw a particular quilt several years ago at either the Nashville show or the Ashville show. As it turns out it was from a book called 'Quilting the Garden' by Barb Adams, Alma Allen and Ricki Creamer. I was so excited when I found the book as I was going through some books at the Charleston show a few weeks ago. I'll post some pictures as I go along and complete the blocks.

Have a blessed Easter,

Joyce

Baby Jane A-6 and A-7

These are my two current blocks. A-6 is Uncle Homer it is yellow and cream. A-7 is Dad's Plaids it is done in read and cream, needle turn and reverse applique. So far, so good. I seem to be on time.

I attended the Hilton Head Quilt Festival last Friday. The weather was beautiful and the drive was quite pleasant. The quilts were Awesome!!! I will post some pictures as time goes by, sorry, but I don't have the quilt makers names on many of them.

For some reason, I can't set these pictures so that you can get a larger view. I need to research that for another time. That's all for tonight.

Baby Jane

My new block is D-13, Field of Dreams. This was a very simple block to do. One more down. How many to go? Do you think that I should start counting pieces?

Alexis came home from the hospital on Saturday. She is doing well and seems to have recovered from her kidney infection and the flu.

Saturday will be Austin's birthday party. He will actually be 7 years old on Wednesday, but, Dusty and Sherry have set his birthday for Saturday. He wants sunglasses for his birthday, I think that I can handle that.

Palm Key is coming up in a month. If you want to check it out, then check out http://www.juststitchinretreats.com/ . There are still spaces available.

Have a great day,

Joyce

My Baby Jane

I have wanted to do a Dear Jane quilt ever since I started quilting. I just can't imagine doing this quilt in the era that Jane stitched it. I hope to be able to complete most of the stitched blocks on my machine because my hand stitching is not that good. I suppose that it will improve as I go through this process. Here are my first two blocks.

The Green one is C-9 called Jane's Tears. The Orange one is B-13 Four Corner Press. I am going to be using 30's reproductions. I joined a group that will be working on this quilt over the next year. We will just have to see how it goes.

Today I am going to work on my Baltimore Album. I have been involved in a group over the past year and have been moving along nicely. The block that I am working on now is a grapevine wreath. It seems to have a million grapes, but I am just now starting to work with them. I am using Karen Kay Buckley's 'Perfect Circles' to make the grapes. I can iron on these and get perfect circles for my grapes. I'll post some pictures as soon as I have some on the background.

My granddaughter Alexis is coming home from the hospital today. She has been there since Wednesday with flu and severe kidney infection. She is doing better and will be home by this afternoon. Other tests will be run later to check for problems.
Have a great day!

It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, it is Friday and I am still home following some surgery.

I have given up and started my own Blog. I am not sure how this works, so it will really be a learning experience for me. I hope to share some of the work that I am doing with my quilts and share the experiences during retreats with Just Stitchin'.

I have not yet figured out the posting of pictures, but, will get to that shortly.

Have a great day!
