The End Came Too Soon

'The Frayed Knots' of One Loose Thread
Summer Fun 2010

Summer Fun Quilt Camp for 2010 came to an end today at 1:00. The end of the weekend is always sad to see. We make many new friends and renew friendship with others.

We have laughed, cried, and just been happy all weekend. The memories made will last us a lifetime.

During our brunch this morning there was a special dress rehersal for the world premier of the up coming world tour for the group 'Nuns and Roses'.

The performance really needs a little work, so they will practice, practice, practice---as time permits. One member will be unable to make a repeat appearance in February, but assures me that she will return in August.

I am bone tired and every muscle in my body is screaming for rest, but, I can assure you that this has been a wonderful weekend.
Information regarding 'Spring Fling' 2011 will be posted in the next few weeks. Those of you planning to attend please take note of the change in dates. Also, please add to your calendar the dates for August 2011 when we will, once again, host Summer Fun.

Have a great week. I will post pictures as soon as I get them from the camp photographer, Pitty Pat.

A Great Day With Friends

Today was a great day with friends. We got together and learned to do 'beaded buttons'. The conversation was lively and the food was great. Liz, Judy, and Margaret churned ice cream for dessert.
Denise and I actually finished our buttons and had the backing on them when we finished for the day. What fun we had. Have a look.

What A Day !!

I spent a wonderful day with two friends. Lynn, Stephanie, and I went to a semi-annual fabric at Foust Textiles in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. What an eye opening experience. This is like the manufacturers outlets of years ago. The sale is conducted in the warehouse of their factory. It was awesome and I am ready to save many dollars for the next sale.

Of course a trip into this area requires that we make another stop at Long Creek Mills for thread. Thread, thread and more thread. You can do some serious damage to the credit card here.

Welllllllllllll, if you are already in this area you might as well travel about 3 miles to the mecca of fabric: Mary Jo's. If Mary Jo doesn't have it, it ain't to be had. We all had to pick up a thing or two before we left for home.

What a wonderful day it was. Good Friends and Fabric!!  I really think that Lynn had two or three bags up in the back seat and Stephanie had at least one in the front seat???? IIIIIIIIIII , of course, did not hide any of my purchases---don't you dare check my carry on luggage!!!

I look forward to more fun in about 6 months.

NOW, ON TO QUILT CAMP! More about that later this weekend. Tomorrow I get to spend the day with some really neat people. The Knight Bee is meeting during the day. Wait until you see what we are doing. FILM (PICTURES) AT ELEVEN--------actually it will be sometime tomorrow night. See you then.

10 DAYS !!!!! READY, SET, PACK !!!!

I absolutely cannot believe we only have 10 days until we get together for Quilt Camp. However, I did start a few things today. Mr. OLT walked into the studio this morning and asked:  "What are all of those 'Carolina Pottery' bags for?"

I could not lie. I had to admit that I had been on a shopping spree for 'Summer Fun' goodies.

The beautiful carpet strip is on the floor so that when Jake lays down he has some traction getting up. After all he is 15 years old and the old boy just doesn't have the lift he use to.

I also managed to cut a 'kit' to take with me. This will be fun. I have everything ready to just 'sit and sew'. I even cut and preped the binding. Only thing not ready to finish this quilt is the 'BACKING'. Imagine that.

I really hope to cut at least 2 more to take for the weekend. Of course I will also have my applique to work on, I only have about 6 of those projects to do. Also I need to take my piece for the Harvest Hope 'Empty Bowls' auction to camp so that I can get it quilted and bound. So much to do, so little time.

Only 10 days!!! Let's see, I really need to start a list of things to do, things to take, things to cut, things, things, things!!

Have a great week. Maybe I'll stop in to say hello.

Nice Weekend

I cannot stand the way that blogger now loads pictures. The Old way was bad enough, but now, things are slower and even more aggravating.
This is a One Block Wonder that I did in a class with Beth Karr (taught by Sara Quattlebaum) at the Quilted Pearl. Hope to put it on the frame next weekend. Beth is teaching this class/technique at the Quilters of South Carolina's fall retreat so I am trying to finish it so that she can use it as a sample.

This next picture is the beginning of a T-shirt quilt for a customer. As of right now I have 20 shirts in this top and I am just watching it ferment for a few days. Hopefully I will come up with a way to set all of this together and what type of fabric to use. My customer has given me free reign to do what I want and sometime that can be a difficult thing.
We are really in count down mode for 'Summer Fun' Quilt Camp. I talked to my friends at Gravatt on Friday to finalize rooms and will be talking to them again in a few days to go over food options.  I am making a few changes due to the fact that we are going to be there during a very hot part of the summer. Not sure yet what they will be, but, there will be some changes.

I hope that you all have a good week.
Until next time:
LET'S GO SEW !!!
